Emma Jean

Emma always loved words writing poetry extensively and getting
assignments for playwriting and speech through most of her childhood, it seems obvious
she would take the road into linguistic as her life would move along.

At 19 years old, she worked as a poetry slam teacher for the French Ministry of Education and the French ministry of justice, conducting classes in schools and jails all over France, combining her passion for writing with her love for theater. Through teaching, she realized how good communication and language styles are primordial to lower the social gap. Helping people
express themselves better was a turning point in her carrier.

Nevertheless, she studied Theater, entering a conservatory and graduating for Censier la Sorbonne.

Meeting exchange students in college grew her curiosity for translation and foreign languages. She took that curiosity to the stage, working as a clown in a duo act, she enjoyed mixing languages, styles, cultural references, play on words, and bilingual tongue twisters.

After college she got a job as a translator for production company, translating artist contracts and sometimes interpreting and helping with artists' correspondences. She would stay with the company for ten years, getting more and more involved, helping organizing festivals, conducting
meetings, hiring artists. Meeting a few artists from the United States and growing her curiosity, she jumped on a plane and move to New York City in 2014.

Here, in the Big Apple, she is still combining her two passions, translating, subtitling, and writing for visual artists. Co-founding The Polyglotters with her husband and partner Vincent Douglas in 2019.

Because of her background as a teacher, an artist and a translator she has an accurate understanding of the importance of how the right choice of words can get a message across and be an important selling point. Her professionalism is the reason why her number of clients is constantly growing.
